Erissery

Ingredients:
Raw Plantain - 1no
Yam - a small piece (size of medium potato)
Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilly Powder - 1/2tsp
Pepper corns - 1/4 tsp
Jeera - 1/4tsp
Coconut Oil, Mustard Seeds, Curry leaves and red chillies (2nos) for seasoning.

Method:

Cut plantain and yam into cubes.  Grind turmeric powder, chilly powder , pepper corns and salt into a paste.  In a pressure cooker put cut vegetables, spice paste and 1/4 cup of water.  Allow to cook for 1 whistle.

In the meanwhile in a mixer grind grated coconut, turmeric powder and jeera. Grind it without adding water.  In a pan pour 1-2 tbsp of coconut oil and season it with mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves. Once mustard seeds splutters, add the ground mixture in it and fry until the mixture become light brown.

Now add the cooked vegetables into this. Let them cook until the water evaporates. the Erissery should be in semi solid consistency.  Serve hot with rice and rasam.
